Hawk Mountain Labs is currently searching for a Quality Manager to join our team.
The Quality Manager has defined responsibility and authority for ensuring that the quality system is implemented and followed at all times with direct access to the highest level of management at which decisions are made on laboratory policy and resources; serves as the focal point for QA/QC and responsible for overseeing and review of quality control data; has functions independent from laboratory operations for which they have quality assurance supervision.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Establishes, revises and updates Standard Operating Procedures, including but not limited to the company Quality Manual according to Pa DEP Chapter 252
Arranges and conducts internal audits
Trains current staff and new hires on established company Standard Operating Procedures and policies
Administers Initial Demonstration of Capabilities Training and Initial and Annual Data Integrity Training
Responsible for tracking of all certifications to ensure that the lab is in compliance with all requirements
Ensures that applicable files are up-to-date for all employees, including but not limited to signature sheets, passwords, etc.
Tracks and stores all employee training documentation
Initiates and tracks new revisions/new procedures, Preventative Actions and Corrective Actions
Notifies laboratory management of deficiencies in the quality system and monitors corrective action
Ensures that clients are notified and all data is documented with regard to damaged samples, exceeded hold times
Orders, enters and keeps track of all PT Studies and the schedule (including make-ups, quick responses and history for each analyte)
Keeps track of all short and long term storage of documents and availability to them, as well as all hard copies of SOP’s, data sheets, maintenance sheets, etc. Ensures that those needed to be in the quality system are there and up-to-date (including but not limited to instrument maintenance logs)
Ensures that all lab equipment is properly documented and up-to-date with unique identifiers
Keeps up-to-date on current trends, practices, developments and regulatory changes which might impact company procedures
Recommends and initiates procedures, systems to improve work flow and efficiency
Coordinates, directs and monitors all functions of Quality Control
Review and evaluate data integrity and validity; recommend and monitor corrective actions as appropriate
Maintains laboratory certifications required to serve local clients, state agencies, and federal programs
Coordinates visits and responses to external audits; coordinates pre-audit information gathering and post audit responses
Coordinates and maintains ethics training
Skills and Attributes:
Ability to evaluate data objectively and perform assessments without outside influence.
Experienced in QA/QC procedures and knowledgeable in the quality system defined under certifications.
Has a general knowledge of the analytical test methods for which data review is performed
Excellent interpersonal skills – including the ability interact with internal and external customers
Must possess good judgment and problem solving skills
Strong leadership skills
High degree of attention to detail
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to learn and work with various software programs
Must possess the ability to develop and maintain an effective working relationship with internal and external customers, function as a team player, accept constructive criticism from management and comply with company policies
Minimum Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related scientific field or its equivalent in training and experience is required
Experience with PA DEP regulations and certifications
