The NY Association of Environmental Laboratories (NYAAEL) and the PA Association of Environmental Laboratories (PaAAEL) are pleased to announce the agenda for the 2008 Annual Convention and Exposition at The Sheraton Syracuse University Hotel in Syracuse, NY.

The 2008 annual convention theme is Laboratory Quality & Field Sampling Principles. Our laboratories must be driven by quality analytical practices and ethical principles. The topics at this year's convention will cover data integrity issues and ethics as well as internal audits and management quality system reviews. Sampling has become a hot topic recently and NELAP's Sampling Committee has become more active as well. This convention has everything you need to improve your laboratory's quality system. Don't miss it!!!

Keynote Address - The NELAC Institute Sampling Committee - David Speis, TNI Vice-Chair

There are two concurrent sessions scheduled each day of the conference. They are as follows:

Monday Morning - Session One: “Internal Audits and Management Quality Systems Reviews” - Pat Chany, C2Chany Consulting
Monday Morning - Session Two: "Measurement Performance and Performing Calibrations" - Marlene Moore, Advanced Systems
Monday Afternoon - Exposition: There will be a 30-40 booth exposition with vendors of analytical instruments, equipment & supplies. There will also be three, 30 minute technical mini-sessions provided by the vendors.
Tuesday - Session One: 1. “Applying Data Mining Technology to Monitor Electronic Data Manipulation Practices” - Buddy Wilson, Promium; 2. "Ethical Scenarios for Stan- dard Lab Practices" - Pat Chany, C2Chany Consulting; 3. "Data Integrity Issues" - Pat Chany and Becky Roztocil; 4. "Ethics Training - Becky Roztocil, Paradigm Environmental
Tuesday - Session Two: 1. “Storm Water Sampling” - Andy Sansone, Monroe County Environmental Lab; 2. “Sampling Issues” - Brad Griffiths, M J Reider Associates; 3. "Sample Holding Times & Preservation" - Susan Kon, RJ Lee Group; 4. “Environmental Management & Compliance” - Libby Ford, QEP, CHMM, CEP, Nixon Peabody (Invited)

The complete conference flyer will be mailed in mid-May. We are offering a pre-announcement special of $389 to any member that registers from this mailing and returns the enclosed form and payment by May 16th. (See form for nonmember prices.) This is $50 off the early registration fee and $90 off the full registration cost! This is a great price for an excellent program. Please note: All food for the convention is included in the registration fees and cannot be split out.
